In the conditional reflex experiments established by the great Russian professor Ivan Pavlov, the founder of physiology, why the conditional stimuli(ie ring) alone, after being reinforced several times, can trigger the identical conditional reflex induced by the unconditional stimuli(ie food)?
The answer is: as two kinds/sets of different consciousness, the conditional stimulation (ring) and the unconditional stimulation (food) are both involved in establishing the same coding system, ie the code for strong feelings toward eating. After repeated reinforcement on experimental canines, both conditional stimuli(ring) and unconditional stimuli(food) can establish/induce the identical emotional reaction, which is called homology code. Different consciousness shares some identical emotional code, therefore various stimuli can produce the same emotional reaction via conditional reflex. So it is clear that same feelings are always involved among different consciousness. Through conditional reflex, the feelings toward eating can control the whole brain, a blackbox of energy supply, in term of its releasing of relevant energy.These energy affect the cortex responsible for digestive glands, leading to their enhanced secretion of saliva et al.
Humans reactions are the same. Sitting hungrily before many delicious foods, no one can wait to eat, with or without noticing their saliva secretion, which is already markedly enhanced via the conditional reflex. However, if he/she does not want to eat (because of mental or phsiological reasons) or does not have the desire for eating, ie if he/ she does not have the feelings toward eating, his/her reactions are of course quite different. This is because that the related conditional stimuli, ie the related conditional consciousness, must be conveyed or mediated by the corresponding feelings to achieve their self-expression, which is attested by the relevant conditional behavior output. This is a simple, clear and perfect and powerful conditonal reflex arc. It is the feelings, the pivotal mediator, that link consciousness , emotional reactions and behavior output together, (making them highly organized and ordered).
